‘Big Brother Canada’ to have free live feeds … and there was much rejoicing
There’s great news, and there’s excellent news. We like to think that the following story falls firmly into the latter camp.
On Wednesday, it was first announced that “Big Brother Canada,” which is set to premiere on network Slice on February 27, is going to be running a free live feed all season long over at their official site. There are still a number of other details still to be released, but the network is looking to make the place into an interactive hub that also contains games and other video exclusives from the show (which Americans may sadly be unable to watch, just as Canadians are often shafted of U.S. programming).
Speaking of the word “shafted,” this is a rather interesting shift from what goes on with “Big Brother” in the United States, as fans of this show are sadly forced into paying at least $30 to watch the live feeds over the course of an entire season. Who knows? Maybe this could inspire a change in America … though we doubt it, given the sweet deal that CBS has going with the folks over at SuperPass, and there is clearly a market of people who are willing to pay for the premium content. For Canada, meanwhile, it makes more sense for the feeds to be free for the first season in order to get viewers hooked.
Hopefully, the show’s official casting announcement is also set to come in the weeks ahead, and we will learn just what sort of personalities are going to dominate this game north of the border.
Are you excited to see the live feeds? We know we are! Be sure to share your thoughts below, and you can check out some exciting news for the American version of the show over here.
