‘The X Factor’ USA notes: Tate Stevens, Carly Rose Sonenclar, Fifth Harmony

There’s still quite a bit going on at the moment when it comes to “The X Factor” USA, even on the same day that “American Idol” season 12 is coming back on the air. With that in mind, we are kicking off our new edition of show notes with a major announcement concerning on Tate Stevens.

This was already pretty much official anyway, but it was still nice to see it happen; on Tuesday, the champion of this past season officially sign a record deal with Syco Music / RCA Records Nashville that is part of the $5 million contract he won at the end of season 2. This signing was pretty much a formality at this point, largely because he had already begun the process of co-writing and recording songs for the album. Not only that, but he is working with some pretty big names from the country music world including John Rich.

Tate’s album should be out, pending some massive delay, by the end of this year.

What we learned about Fifth Harmony – Part of the appeal of this group over the past season was really watching them grow inception into an actually band that was capable of potentially winning the show; but before that even happened, they had a number of name changes. They started as LYLAS, and then changed it to the name of “1432” that we are pretending never happened.

Before they even came up with this new name, the group revealed on their Twitter account Tuesday that they had gone through a number of other names, including Code Blush (which we actually like), Pulse, Synergy, and Ladies of Choice. Let’s just say that they Fifth Harmony was clearly the best pick for them.

Carly Rose Sonenclar meets … Charlie Sheen! There’s not much context to really share here, but it happened in New York this week. Sheen is busy promoting season 2 of “Anger Management” (premiering Thursday night)
