‘Once Upon a Time’ season 2 spoilers: Lana Parrilla on Regina, Cora’s future
You knew just from last week’s new episode of “Once Upon a Time” alone that season 2 was going to be a difficult one for Lana Parrilla’s Regina, and that is likely going to be shot straight into the stratosphere when she learns that her mother Cora is back in the picture. Sooner or later, you know that she is going to rear her head in Storybrooke; and the moment that happens, the entire town is going to explode. This is the one person that could have framed Regina for Archie’s “death,” and regardless of whether or not she figures that out right away, the mother / daughter relationship is going to be a tense one from the moment Cora walks into town.
However, it may not be volatile to the point of the two trying to kill each other anytime soon. Speaking to TV Guide following the gut-wrenching episode last week, Parrilla explained that despite everything horrible that’s been done to her, there is still a part of Regina that does love her mom:
“I think there are going to be moments when she does revert back to that little girl. As much pain as her mother has caused, at the end of the day, she is her mother and she loves her. I think that’s true for a lot of parent/children relationships. Even when they go awry or horrible betrayals take place, there’s a connection that’s undeniable and that could never be broken by anyone. So, I want to make sure that that’s there even through the fighting, even if we’re throwing fireballs at one another.”
The reality of the Regina / Cora situation at the moment is that we do not see it as particularly likely that the character is going to strut into Storybrooke for at least another week, as she needs some time to try and figure out the situation of the town via her Archie interrogations before making her move.
