‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8, episode 13 preview: The wedding showdown

Who knew that Ted was going to be into wedding planning to such an extent on “How I Met Your Mother” season 8? Okay, you probably know the answer to that already. The guy always has had a little bit of a creative side, and he is going to be trying once again to show that off in full force for the new episode that is airing on Monday night.

Rather than getting initially upset over the thought of Robin, a woman he once loved and tried to make the promise to be with years down the line, was going to be marrying his best friend Barney, Ted has decided instead to get involved in just about every aspect of the ceremony. One detail that we find especially notable here? The wedding date of May 25, 2013: this year, and not next. Granted, it is possible that the ninth-season renewal could cause this day to be pushed back a year, or the show could opt to go through with the wedding and have next year be really all about the time Ted meets the Mother moving forward until the actual wedding between the two. (Then again, the show would not be called “How I Met Your Mother” anymore.)

The real loser in Ted’s scheme is simple: Lily, who’s trying to find ways to fill up her time away from Marvin at the moment. Much of the spring is going to feature her struggling to figure out what she wants to do with her life, especially since having a child can change things for you.

Moving beyond this episode, there is still quite a bit to look forward to, whether it be an appearance from “Pretty Little Liars” star Ashley Benson or the return of Robin Sparkles in what is currently planned to be one of the greatest television tributes / spoofs to Canada the world has ever seen.
