‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 6, episode 13 review: ‘Star Trek’ into deserts
Some of the best episodes of “The Big Bang Theory” are the ones that feature road trips front and center, largely because it always works out rather well to see what happens when you through these characters into unfamiliar territory. For both the male and female characters this season, we ultimately ended up seeing this, and it was luckily somewhat funny for everyone involved.
For Sheldon and the boys, the mission was simple: hop in Leonard’s car in order to take off to Bakersfield Comic-Con, but along the way they made an interesting decision: get out and take some photos in costume at a supposed filming location used in “Star Trek: the Next Generation.” Unfortunately, in doing so their car was stolen. The rest of their story was entertaining in that they basically had to deal with law enforcement and normal people while in costume, and it was actually Raj who was the only person who actually wanted to still go to the Con by the time this was over.
Meanwhile, the three ladies all decided that they were going to try and relate to the men in their lives a little bit more by picking up some comic books. Kevin Sussman totally killed it this week as Stuart, as he tried to explain to his customers the presence of ladies in the story. Sadly, the rest of the story here was only chuckle-worthy as Penny, Bernadette, and Amy all sat around and got into an argument on everything from superpowers to gravity.
Overall, this episode probably was not as strong as last week’s record-setting half hour, even though there was some humor just in seeing the guys’ chock in coming home to hearing some of the women chat about comics. We just wish that there was actually some Comic-Con scenes here, mostly because we had been hyping that up all week hoping that this was something we were finally going to see from the show.
