‘Dexter’ season 8 spoilers: Meet a pair of new characters
We may still be over half a year away from the premiere of “Dexter” season 8, but that is not stopping Showtime by any means when it comes to trying to get the word out about their casting process a little bit early. We have a pair of new characters now being introduced by TVLine, and to us they spell one thing: the walls are seriously closing in around Dexter Morgan.
The first recurring character joining the fold is a Dr. Evelyn Vogel, who is an extremely smart neuroscientist who helps to profile criminals. While we don’t know this for sure, she seems like the perfect sort of person to figure out who Dexter is before he is even on to her. Who knows? Maybe she will be a little bit more of a self-aware version of Sargent Doakes.
Next, we have another rather fascinating character here in Jacob Elroy, a former cop in his forties who is going to be working as a private eye now to help solve cases without police interference. In other words, he seems like the perfect person to be hired on a specific case … especially if someone like Batista has suspicions that maybe LaGuerta’s death was more than just a murder / suicide.
These two characters will reportedly recur throughout season 8, and all of this comes to us as a signal that for the final episodes (regardless of whether or not it is 12 or the rumored 16), the Big Bang may not actually be anyone but Dexter himself. We haven’t heard about an external villain yet, and this is usually the first character that is cast.
