‘The X Factor’ USA notes: Carly Rose Sonenclar, Tate Stevens, CeCe Frey
For this Monday, we have some more fun “X Factor” USA notes to share, including some more songwriting news for Tate Stevens and the large amount of fan support that CeCe Frey is still receiving several weeks after her elimination on the show.
Tate’s new writing partners – As it turns out, our champ is getting opportunities beyond just getting to write with the guy responsible for Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” as he is working now with some rather-popular artists within the world of country music. Tate posted on his Twitter this weekend that he had a chance to write with John Rich (who really needs no explanation at all), and also Bridgette Tatum (who wrote “She’s Country” for Jason Aldean). Tate is likely to get some pretty great songs from all of these folks, and his debut is shaping up to be a good one already. We’re not huge into the country music universe, so if we’ve heard of the names working with him, it is a rather good sign.
Carly’s vocal training – Meanwhile, the reigning runner-up Carly Rose Sonenclar tweeted out herself this weekend that she is already hard at work on making her voice the best that it can be:
“Just finished my first vocal lesson of #2013! Working hard and excited about the New Year!!”
Carly is probably going to cut an album at some point, but it is expected that hers will take a little longer than Tate’s given that he is already knee-deep into the writing process.
Finally, CeCe’s fan support – Want to know just how passionate CeCe’s Warriors are? Know this: she posted a P.O. Box for fans to send mail to in Illinois, and within the span of the week she has already received 100 items of fan mail. Not bad, right? We’re still excited to see what CeCe does moving forward; we always thought she had the most potential to be a genuine pop star out of anyone on the show this year, and we still think that.

Chris Clark, thank you for your comment.
Rachel, how do you know about all women?
Mary-Beth, your comment shows you are trashy, not Cece. Or maybe you are not able to tolerate the beautiful girls? It happens sometimes…

Rumor has it, a new line of Cece Frey stamps are coming out soon. I guess everyone wants to profit on a sure bet. Just imagine receiving mail regularly with Cece’s smiling face on it, lol. Someone should make musical envelopes with Cece singing the chorus for “Part Of Me” when you open your mail. What the heck, just start a whole Cece industry, lunch boxes, ball caps, cell phone jackets, license plate frames, fashion, etc, proceeds to rehabilitate all the haters <3

I love Emblem 3. Glad they got signed. I can’t stand Cece Frey. So we have katy perry, lady gaga, beyonce, kesha, where the hell is cece going to fit? Everyone is going to say she’s copyng gaga or kesha. I can’t see her being a big name in the music industry.

Rachel is right. Most of the people into Cece are men. I didn’t like how she treated Paige Thomas. I think when Demi told her to tone it down–that’s when she finally did so her attitude and behavior are fake. Remember how she treated that duo during auditions? She’s all on them asking if they’re dating? What a BITCH. The reason why she made it that far wasn’t becauuse of her voice, it was because of you men who probably won’t buy her album save for the weirdos who obsess over her. She’s trashy.

Rachel, by the style of the prior write-up there, I suspect CHRIS CLARK may well be the one who’s 66 and lives in Santa Cruis California. I could be mistaken, however the quality of the post does seem to support that assumption. That would make chris a FEMALE if I’m right, and more experienced and knowlegable than anyone who posts a comment here, and thus your theory of “drooling men” mistaken. Yet, it’s mistaken even if I’m wrong about chris clark. If Cece had the bad attitude that you ascribe to her, she would have never made the top 24, surely not the top 24 or 16, let alone 6th best in the country. Cece’s got more than half a million twitter and facebook followers, already. Almost all the other contestants have half of that, or less, bar 1 … Carly. That Cece Frey has the following she has, and ademant followers at that, shows your theory mistaken (no offense). Look at her Twitter account, and you’ll see most of her followers seem to be female. I doubt Cece wants to be Kesha or Gaga. She wants to expand that market in that general area, and she can do so by remaining herself, ie different (enough) from the others. It’s just a matter of time, really. I can’t wait to say … I told you so.

All you men drooling over Cece need to understand that women are going to have to be her biggest supporters when it comes to buying her music. And women don’t like her. it’s her own fault having that attitude at the beginning of the season. We already have a Lady Gaga and a Kesha. Kesha type of artists (auto-tuned and dance beats) are fading now. People are more into real music where people can actually sing.

Singing in a STUDIO where you get take after take to hit the note right and on top of that, a LOT of digital enhancements to make any imperfections sound PERFECT has been a great benefit to MOST every singer in their produced albums and singles over the years. Had we never seen CECE Frey singing live until we heard a “studio produced” version of a hit written specifically for her as a POP single, and then just saw her perform her own LIVE version on stage, we would all see the definition of POP STAR. She is charismatic. Controversial. Beautiful. A Fashion Icon. A Diva. So, while she isn’t the best “technically perfect vocalist” on earth or in that competition, would she have been considered a better “singer” than KESHA or someone similar that is currently selling millions of singles and filling up venues? Absolutely. I’ve been around rising pop stars for a decade and this girl has “IT” the sheer fact that YOU are all talking about her is proof. If Simon had her on HIS team he would have covered her flaws, which are the low notes and he would have definitely asked for another slice of chocolate cake like he did with “anything can happen” when 5th Harmony performed it. Put her with the right producer and writers and she will make amazing videos because she is stunning. Collaborate with known talent and stars on singles and she will go platinum. I know this game and this biz. The best “singer” isn’t always the biggest star. If that were the case, my 7th grade music teacher would be selling millions of records because that woman could belt out a tune!

One thing all 3 of these vocalists had, was an incredible ability to “sell the performance” on delivery. Most folks don’t even realize how important that is, although they do feel (that) something special when it happens. Where some just sing the song great, Tate & Carly & Cece “lived the part” when they sang it. You lose time and forget where you are. In my opinion, that’s the mark of the greatest performers. Doesn’t matter if one is talking Whitney Housten, Willey Nelson, Fergie, Taylor Swift, Nina Simone, or Lady Gaga … living the perfomance is everything. It’s what gives a singer that “IT factor”. Tate, Carly, and Cece have “IT”. Write any of these singers a great song (suited for them), and it’ll go platinum. Judging by how many great singers (from shows like this) never really make it (or survive long, some 95%), they should put more money into reality TV song writing shows … or just let Emblem 3 write the songs, lol.

i hear what you’re saying thomas, but cece will only sound alright if theres a ton of production and music while she sings, and a lot of tinkering done to her voice in the studio and perhaps some autotuning…..i mean thats what was done with britney spears…she doesnt have a good singing voice at all but they made it work cuz of all the production and packaging, dancing, editing etc. Miss Sonenclar just needs a microphone and a glass of water for after shes done singing and she’ll be fine! actually she doesnt even need a microphone with that powerful voice :) ur totally right about her being in a class of her own. shes in a whole other matrix
Thomas
January 9, 2013 @ 7:13 pm
Carly is in a class of her own, one of the best young talents to ever step on a stage in the public eye. Tate’s a great “just stand there and sing” country voice. Cece’s the next great pop act, and it’s about time something new and fresh came along. If there were ever a great package in entertainment, it’s Cece Frey … the writers of the article above, nailed that.

cece isnt a good singer….she should have left the show weeks before she did shes so lucky she made it as far as she did. shes a nice girl and all but shes definitely not a talented singer shes far from it. I know Tate and I can assure you that he is just as down to earth as you seen him on X Factor. He’s very devoted to his family and friends and has aways gone the extra mile to help others. Not only did he deserve to win. HE DID!

1. Carly was hands down a talented singer and thee best. She should have won.
2. Tate was great but wasn’t the best in my opinion.
3. Cece sings but she can’t sing. She needs more practice.

I was impressed with Demi Levato’s support of Cece Frey. That was a major statement of character, for both of them. Cece made Demi a believer, and in that I admire both of them. I shall now follow Demi Levato regularly. Cece will succeed, because in her mind “failure is not an option”. Watch and learn. Surround yourself by Cece Freys, and your business can only succeed.

Well, Tate Stevens is the perfect stand-there-and-sing country singer, and there’s alot of country voters out there. Carly Rose is an angel that sings the blues. No close 2nd ever to Carley, bar 1, in Jacki Evancho. Regarding Cece Frey, she is very special and has the package. She did place 6th best in America. There was not a singer in the top 16 that was not awesome. Jason Brock who placed 13th was phenomenal. Remember David Corey? Wow, a couple of you folks here need to re-assess yourselves. The more you publically hate on a contestant, the more publicity they receive, and publicity is a good thing :)

People put Carly down for her vocal training, but it’s very important to develop the the right technique to sing correctly, otherwise you end up like my idol JoJo. She was real popular around 13 yrs old and sang her heart out and took no vocal training. Now youtube her. She sounds awful live. Compare her to beyonce. Beyonce kept up with her lessons and can still sing beautifully at 30 yrs old. Mariah Carey still sounds great too because she was taught about technique and taking care of her vocal instrument from her opera singing mother.

One more … Cece ought to tour with Demi Levato in her first year out. That would make for quite the draw. Just a thought :)

They’re right. Cece Frey is mega pop material. I Will Always Love You, I’m Sexy and I Know it, and Out Here on My Own … where as good as any songs sung on the show this year. No one was even a close 2nd on stage performances. This is not to take anything away from the Top 5, as they were all stellar. Whoever signs Miss Frey will be rich beyond the dreams of Avarice.

i never bought tate’s “nice guy” image, he seemed like he was faking it to me in order to tug at peoples heartstrings and get votes that way instead of getting votes for talent, which is what the show is SUPPOSED to be about, COUGH COUGH

It seems that after and before winning he got a big head and started putting other people down. i think he was nice at the start but after all these people telling he was soo nice he got a bit blown away. so he can’t say much….. thats what i think anyway.
