ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 2, episode 10 review: Great power and irresponsibility
After almost a month and a half off of the air thanks to the holiday hiatus, “Revenge” season 2 is back … and it’s still a little bit of a mess. There are some pretty strong storylines going here, and the new mission that is putting Emily and Victoria as allies is at least reasonably exciting.
Let’s start out by getting the bad out of the way: what in the world is with the Initiative? This is a story that is going a little too all over the place, and is nearly not as interesting as anything else going on (mostly because it’s still so hard to wrap our heads around Aiden as a character, and Conrad’s hidden documents are just too hidden).
As for the positive, we had something that all “Revenge” fans love: a public speech that turns into a media circus! This time around, it was courtesy of the judges’ wife, a victim of abuse coerced by Emily into reading a leader publicly showing that the David Clarke jury was tainted, and the verdict should have at least been a mistrial. This was clearly a blow to Conrad, and just what Victoria wanted yet again her quest for power.
Another piece of the puzzle? Getting Daniel Grayson back into Emily’s arms, and she certainly made movement there by staging a “breakup” with Aiden, and then subtly positioning herself so that Daniel will be near her. This paid off for at least the time being, though we still do question why Daniel’s assistant hasn’t said anything to him about Aiden stopping by his office looking for him. If he did, than he would have realized that something sneaky was afoot.
Then again, Emily’s split from Aiden was almost foiled again at the very end, when Daniel made an unannounced visit to Emily’s place, promised to make things right, and then kissed her while he real boyfriend was in the shower. Is he really going to be okay with this mission going this far? Only time can tell.
