‘American Idol’ notes: Kris Allen, Adam Lambert, Phillip Phillips

Who’s up for a little bit of some overnight “American Idol” notes? There is some major news when it comes to Kris Allen’s condition following wrist surgery, and it only seems appropriate to lead off with that.

In a new post on Twitter, Kris’ wife Katy Allen (who is also expecting the couple’s first child) shared the good news that he is back on the mend following a scary car accident over the New Year’s holiday, and now the recovery can begin in order to ensure that he is still able to meet all of his touring commitments this month (which he still reportedly plans to do):

“Kris is out of his surgery! Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!”

Phillip’s new cover – Phillip Phillips has a ton to celebrate right now. “Home” is a smash hit, his debut album “The World From the Side of the Moon” is now Certified Gold, and he’s also on the cover now of Billboard Magazine.

However, there is something a little controversial almost in this, mostly because we’re not sure that Phillip (who has already made some effort to distance himself from the show musically) likes the idea that he is somehow a manufactured product rather than a compelling musician in his own right. He is pictured here alongside Jimmy Iovine, who has done a fantastic job as an in-house mentor since joining in season 10. After season 9 produced no Gold-selling artists, we now have seen two years in a row a champ establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with.
