‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4 spoilers: How will Tyler fight back?

When “The Vampire Diaries” season 4 returns to The CW on January 17, we are going to see a man in Tyler Lockwood still rather stunned and distant following the death of his mother and so many others that he was trying to care for and support. With that being said, though, do not be surprised at all to see him fighting back against Klaus rather quickly over everything he took from him.

In addition to what we have teased already about this upcoming story, Michael Trevino tells TV Guide in a new interview about some of the goals that Tyler is going to set for himself in taking down Joseph Morgan’s original hybrid; this is not necessarily going to be a plan that he will be able to act on immediately, but he can at least start to put some of the wheels in motion:

“Tyler’s not going to stand and take it … It’s the realization that he had his one chance of attacking Klaus and that didn’t work, which is disheartening, [but now] he has to go for broke and figure out a way to do it, whether it’s gathering people to align with again or going at it by himself.”

We fully anticipate the writers doing whatever they can to stretch this story out, and with that in mind the potential for a Klaus / Tyler showdown through much of the latter part of season 4 is immense. Don’t expect either character to be biting the dust anytime soon, as the only time we could feasibly see either one of these primary characters in serious danger of losing their life is during the May sweeps. (Then again, this is a show that has surprised us before.)
