‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8: First photo of Barney, Robin meeting [spoiler]

Ever since we first caught wind of this, we knew that it was going to be interesting on “How I Met Your Mother” season 8: watching none other than Barney Stinson have to impress someone who may go down as one of the most-intimidating people out there in Robin’s father. We have not seen too much of Ray Wise’s character over the years, but we do know a few things about him: he is extremely tough on his daughter, is somehow still very protective, and he is probably not going to take too well with Barney breaking tradition and asking Robin to marry him without permission.

This photo is really all kinds of awkward for a number of reasons. For one, Barney is wearing a suit at what appears to be the most casual restaurant in the entire world, and Robin’s father looks like he just got in following a vacation in Hawaii. This just goes to show the sort of differences that are there between these two people from the get-go, as this is hardly a place in which Barney would probably ever go were he not interested in trying to impress the guy.

As for whether or not everything works out fine, we’re assuming that nothing is going to come easy for Neil Patrick Harris’ character, especially after he spent so much time and effort into making sure that the proposal was perfect in its own rather special way. Even though we know that these two are going to get married on the same day that Ted meets the Mother, this is still no definite proof that their engagement is going to continue on without problems.
