‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8 spoilers: Ted’s time of regret
Stop us when this one sounds familiar: on an upcoming episode of “How I Met Your Mother,” Ted is going to be spending more time dwelling over Robin than he is trying to figure out who is the mother. It’s a situation that has become a bit tiresome to some fans over the years, but at least in this particular moment, there is some pretty solid reason behind the emotion being there.
So what is Josh Radnor’s character specifically going to struggle through? In a new interview with TVLine, executive producer Carter Bays is going to explain that giving away his blessing for his pal Barney to propose to the woman he long loved in Robin may be “potentially devastating,” as he starts to feel it is “a situation where maybe he was a little too generous and maybe he regrets his generosity a little bit in encouraging Robin to follow her heart.” For those of you wondering why he would have ever giving the OK for Robin to go up to that rooftop to begin with (via telling her what was going on), it’s a situation that many of us go through on a regular basis: it feels like a great idea at the time, but once you see your friend happy and go home alone at night, things change.
Are there good things for Ted on the horizon? Eventually, but before he fully gets there he is going to have to deal with a woman (played by Abby Elliot) who becomes his new girlfriend, but who also happens to be completely insane. Maybe it is his fragile emotional state, but every single thing that she does at first only manages to draw Ted closer to her. At the end of the day, we can only assume that this is part of the healing process, since we know that the Mother is waiting on the other side.
As for when we are supposed to meet the Mother, we want to hear your thoughts over at the link here.
