‘The Voice’ UK season 2, ‘Doctor Who’ season 7 featured in new BBC One clip
After the ratings for “The Voice” UK fell like a lead balloon after the blind auditions last year, there was a part of us that was unsure that the singing show would even be back on BBC One next year. However, it is going to happen, and the show is even briefly featured in the new trailer for what is coming up on the British network in 2013 alongside such other programs as “Call the Midwife,” “Luther,” and of course the juggernaut known as “Doctor Who” (which gets top billing at the end of the ad).
First of all, we have to say that this is simply just a fantastic clip, as it shows off perfectly all of the programming on BBC that makes you feel in one way nostalgic (even though these shows are still on the air), and in another way completely emotional. While we spend much of our time talking about some ITV shows including “The X Factor” and “Downton Abbey,” there is really no questioning that the network’s prime competitor also has a great lineup of stellar programming week in and week out.
There is one notable omission to the trailer, though, that even American fans will pick up on: “Sherlock.” The absolutely brilliant series starring Benedict Cumberbatch was originally set to begin production on season 3 in January, but scheduling conflicts have now pushed it back until March. There is no word yet as to when it will air, but it is likely be 2014 before the new (and ridiculously short) season comes stateside.
What BBC One series are you looking forward to seeing the most in the new year, and do you think that there is anything that “The Voice” UK can specifically do to be stronger in the new year? If you want to watch another new “Doctor Who” season 7 trailer, you can do so over here.
