‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 9: How’s Patrick Dempsey giving back to Seattle?
If you love Patrick Dempsey and “Grey’s Anatomy,” then you have to love this new story. After all, it features the actor looking to give back to a troubled Seattle staple … even though the actor in real was born in raised all the way across the country in Maine.
In a new statement in the Seattle Times, the actor announced that he is leading a group of investors in hopes of buying Tully’s Coffee, a business that has been told to shut down multiple locations after filing for bankruptcy within the past year:
“I’ve always loved this city, and with the purchase of Tully’s Coffee, I plan to spend a lot of time in Seattle and the stores connecting with the community and growing the Tully’s brand … Seattle may be my home away from home in the very near future.”
Dempsey (who makes millions on the ABC medical drama, which is filmed in Los Angeles but set in the city) could help to save 500 jobs if he manages to make the move go through. This is the sort of purchase that would not only win him plenty of goodwill, but it may also be a very smart business decision. He obviously knows that he is recognized for playing Derek on the show, and what better man to help sort out a Seattle company from a PR standpoint than a guy who plays one of the most-popular fictional doctors out there from the city?
There are other groups competing for the purchase of the chain, so it may take a little bit of time before we know whether or not Dempsey’s attempt to get into the coffee business worked out. Stay posted, as we’ll give you plenty more in the way of updates at every step.
