‘Homeland’ season 3 spoilers: Is Mike set to return?
There have been a plethora of questions floating around out there for some time about the future of many characters on “Homeland” season 3, even before the final aired on Sunday night. At this point, though, most of the intriguing ones revolve around one Nicholas Brody. After all, how can the man’s estranged wife Jess, her children, or his old “pal” / his wife’s lover Mike Faber be a huge part of the story so long as he is somewhere in hiding overseas?
As strange as it may seem, though, the man responsible for playing Mike seems at least reasonably confident that we will be seeing him next year in some capacity. Speaking to TheStar Phoenix in a new interview, actor Diego Klattenhoff explained that he has “heard” that his character will make a return appearance in season 3, though also explained that trying to get any further details right now is an impossible task:
“The writers are off right now hashing out the possibilities for Season 3 and you wouldn’t be able to get a straight answer out of them if you started water boarding or shocking them. They’re a pretty tight knit group.”
As for what sort of possible stories for Mike could be floating around out there, the most obvious one would be that he and Jess are starting a new life together with her kids following the exit of Brody, and they are all going to be trying to rebuild after the “realization” that he is in some way responsible for the attack that killed so many members of the CIA along with their families and friends. Think of it as Abu Nazir’s last move, planned even before his death. Klattenhoff also said that he is pretty confident that Mike is not the secret mole who caused the bomb to go off to begin with.
