‘Downton Abbey’ season 3: Hugh Bonneville, Joanne Froggatt, more visit D.C.
The cast of “Downton Abbey” has been busy the past few days promoting season 3 in New York City, but now the likes of Hugh Bonneville, Joanne Froggatt, and the rest of the gang are taking their considerable talents to the cornerstone of American politics: Washington DC.
With that in mind, the actors (who are more or less the same ones you have been seeing around for much of the past several weeks) were spotted at an event earlier this week at the British embassy, where they hobnobbed with various political figures and talked about the show that Michelle Obama loves so much that she got to watch the new season earlier than most other Americans. The First Lady’s obsession with the show also led to Rob James-Collier (Thomas) giving the following Message in a brief chat with the Washington Post:
“I’ve got a wife and a child, but I’m willing to get rid of them for the first lady.”
There were a number of political reporters in attendance at the event who were there as fans just as much as journalists, and there are few series on television here in America that produce such an effect. The truth here is that “Downton Abbey” rings so many chords within the hearts of people: it is a dose of British history, but at the same time it is also an emotional story of family, love, and how one recovers from difficult circumstances and learns to move forward. It’s a show that even Americans with no connections to Britain at all can relate to, and that is really saying something.
How excited are you to see season 3 start up early next year? Be sure to share your thoughts below, and you can check out the hilarious new “Breaking Abbey” spoof video over at the link here.
