‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 9 spoilers: Ellen Pompeo hopeful for Derek’s future

If you are seriously concerned that Derek may not be able to ever operate again on “Grey’s Anatomy” season 9, here is a little bit of hope coming your way courtesy of one of the show’s biggest stars.

Speaking in a new interview with E! News, Ellen Pompeo teases Thursday night’s episode by saying that the big operation for Patrick Dempsey’s character is coming, and there are a plethora of reasons for the writers of the show to try to get the guy patched up. After all, how much can we take of a sad Derek who is not able to do what he loves? Much like Arizona’s issues following her leg injury, most things here shall pass:

“I think we think [this operation] is going to be the one, because clearly there are writing challenges if Patrick’s character can’t operate … So it’s really been us at home and him dealing with the challenge of, ‘What do we do about my hand?’ We’re getting toward the middle of the season now so they’re probably going to have fix his hand and get him back in the OR and get him some storylines.”

Derek’s hand is just one of two major issues that are going to be covered in this episode, as we also have the wedding coming up between Ben and Bailey … which, based on some of the sneak peeks we’ve seen, is not exactly going to go off without a hitch. There will be fear, concerns, cold feet, and bad advice from some fellow doctors on marriage.
