‘Downton Abbey’ season 3 spoilers: Allen Leech opens up on Branson

Apparently, some more major television networks are starting to open up the vault when it comes to footage from “Downton Abbey” season 3. Just a matter of days after “CBS Sunday Morning” aired a behind-the-scenes preview at the upcoming collection of episodes, we are now seeing the same sort of thing occur courtesy of ABC News and “Nightline.” (Note: the following article contains minor spoilers, but only from a clip that is deemed safe for American audiences.)

On this particular occasion, the show airing on Tuesday night is going to feature one character in particular in Tom Branson. Allen Leech talks a little bit in the video below about how he is first and foremost just grateful to have an opportunity to be back on the show for another go-around, in particular with such a different sort of role than we saw from him previously. When the interviewer notes that Leech is wearing a tux rather than a chauffeur’s uniform, the actor points out that this is very much a dead giveaway.

Without giving anything at all away, Leech states that he is in fact married to one of Earl Grantham’s daughters, and that Tom is going to have to adjust during season 3 to being in a completely different sort of social status than he was before. This of course causes friction between himself and a group of people he was once comfortable conversing with, largely because he feels now as though he is in a world where he does not fit in at any turn.
