‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4, episode 7 review: One chaotic Miss Mystic Falls
Somehow, “The Vampire Diaries” managed to put on a beauty pageant that completely and totally put anything that happens on “Toddlers & Tiaras” to shame. There was really quite a bit that unfolded over the course of the hour, and most of it was fairly shocker. However, we’re also not sure that all of it necessarily makes a great deal of sense.
For example, can Elena really blame her sudden affection for Damon on being “sired” to him? This didn’t really happen so much for other turned vampires save for Tyler, and he did not suddenly fall in love with Klaus. We really just think that this sire bond just amplifies some sort of emotions that are already there, and there is really only so long that this sort of excuse is going to fly.
As for Jeremy, this episode at least made a little more sense to him. He is already concerned that he is starting to become like Alaric courtesy of the vampires he is killing, and to make matters even worse. he also can do nothing other than thinking about staking his sister. He tried it, and now he is in the process of taking off in order to avoid hurting her any more than he has already. We hope that we’re not just going to see him take off to Denver again, mostly because the show is much more exciting with him around.
The funny part about all of this is that in the middle of seeing all of the blood, the violence, and Stefan bonding with Caroline while also trying to move on from the fact that he and Elena are not together anymore, April winning the Miss Mystic Falls pageant felt almost like an afterthought. Klaus and Caroline also felt like a bit of a letdown, mostly because save for some smiles and some teases, the two did not do anything to start a relationship, let alone take one to the next level.
As a whole, did this pageant live up to the stellar season 1 entry in your mind, or did it leave something to be desired? Be sure to share what you think below, and you can head over here to have a little bit of fun with Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev.
