‘American Idol’ notes: Phillip Phillips, Adam Lambert, Scotty McCreery
There is some good stuff coming up for a number of “American Idol” contestants per our Wednesday edition of show notes; but before we come to all of that, we have to share the latest results from Phillip Phillips’ album sales for “The World from the Side of the Moon.”
According to date compiled by HITS Daily Double at this very moment, the disc from the reigning champ is slated to debut at #3 on the Billboard 200 behind Rihanna’s “Unapologetic” and the monster disc known as Taylor Swift’s “Red.” The total tally at the moment is 172,000 copies sold, which is a very solid number for a reigning champ with just one hit song at the moment. It may be down from Scotty McCreery’s “Clear As Day,” but it also is more albums than Lee DeWyze and Kris Allen sold on their first weeks combined.
Phillip should also get a good placement for “Home” on the Billboard Hot 100 Thursday, as the album has helped propel the song to #1 on the iTunes sales chart for much of the week.
An Adam Lambert stream – There’s a pretty cool opportunity coming up to watch a performance from Adam Lambert in Hong Kong, and you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your own living room. On Friday, November 30, at 3:00 p.m. Eastern time, Mnet America, a brand known for bringing all things cool and Asian to American audiences, is going to be bringing an exclusive stream of the 2012 Mnet Asian Music Awards (or MAMA) straight from the prominent business city. Adam, B.o.B, and PSY are just three of the popular artists set to perform on the show.
You can watch the stream of the show through the MCube port here. The hosts for this English-language coverage of the event are Danny Lim, Hannah Jun, and Eunice Kiss.
Congratulations – Finally, hats off to the season 10 champ, as his new album “Christmas with Scotty McCreery” has been certified gold with over 500,000 copies sold. The good news for him is that sales will likely continue to be strong moving forward thanks to holiday shopping and a demand for Christmas music.
