Ratings: ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ ‘Person of Interest’ give CBS stellar night
CBS got off to a slow and at times embarrassing start this season, but even with all of this in mind, the network has to be jumping for joy at the results that many of their shows brought in Thursday night. After a year of uncertainty last year, the network has finally found a companion show for “The Big Bang Theory” at 8:30 p.m. Eastern time. Sadly, it’s a show that is already ten seasons into its lifespan.
The adventures of Sheldon Cooper of course won the night, and at the moment the show is pulling a 5.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic along with over 17 million viewers (both season highs) for what may be the show’s best episode of the entire season. “Two and a Half Men” followed this up with a 4.1 and nearly 14 millions, which also should mark its best overall performance of the season (and it didn’t even need Miley Cyrus to do it this time).
“Person of Interest” also has plenty to celebrate this week, as for the second time all season long, the drama at least tied “Grey’s Anatomy” with a 3.1 rating in the preliminary numbers. However, remember that the medical drama has a tendency to adjust up in the final ratings, so this could change. “Elementary” was solid with a 2.3 for CBS at 10, and this is the only so-so news on the night for them.
Elsewhere, the only real news worth reporting is that “Last Resort” continued to flounder on ABC with a 1.3, and once again “Beauty and the Beast” achieved the rare feat of losing half of its “Vampire Diaries” lead in in scoring just a 0.6, compared to a 1.2 for The CW’s highest-rated drama of the season.
Why do you think CBS is dominating so much on Thursdays?
