‘Game of Thrones’ season 3: Some stories via David Benioff, Craig Ferguson
Even though the primary location for “Game of Thrones” season 3 filming in Northern Ireland may already be over, we do have some more assorted news now courtesy of executive producer David Benioff in a rare place: “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.” This appearance was taped a little earlier in the week, and it was certainly more than a little bit entertaining.
For the majority of this interview, though, the subject matter was geared mostly around his novel “City of Thieves,” which has plenty of dark content in it that fans of the HBO series would already know quite a bit about. When it came to actual discussion of the show, there were a few details about why Northern Ireland was the perfect setting for the show, and how they use a good many actors who are from the United Kingdom.
Really, the strangest and most surprising thing about this interview to us is just how funny Benioff is, and how much chemistry he has with the show’s host. This is easily the funniest that we have ever seen him, and the whole bit about Ferguson being close to the date of his death was some remarkable manipulation of the mind. Craig also wants a role on the fourth season of the show, even though Benioff is already claiming that the role he really wants has already been filled by Joffrey (though we also think that Littlefinger is another suitable candidate here).
