‘Game of Thrones’ season 3: How Kit Harrington prepares
As we’ve said lately, we have reached a bit of a quiet time in the world of “Game of Thrones.” Production is over in Northern Ireland, and with the filming crew moving to a place as remote as the Icelandic wilderness, it’s going to be rather hard to really find out much of anything when it comes to scoop.
With that in mind, Kit Harrington’s recent publicity tour for the latest “Silent Hill” movie has become a bit of a goldmine when it comes to scoop. The actor responsible for Jon Snow has been speaking out anywhere and everywhere, and while we have not really received much in the way of major details on the season from these chats, we have at least learned a little bit when it comes to the actor prepares for the episodes that he is about to film. For example, Harrington tells NextMovie that he typically does not read the next book in the George R.R. Martin series until the show gets to a point where it becomes relevant:
“I stopped reading after Book Three or Book Four, I can’t remember which, but I stopped reading because I got too far ahead of myself. And I haven’t picked them up since, and I don’t think I will until we get to the point where — hopefully we get to the point — where we’ve caught up with the books. Then I’ll pick up the book for the next season and see where it’s at. I haven’t, but I’ve been told what happens and I kind of know what happens, but I haven’t read them, no. I need to do that.”
The challenge for season 3 in particular is that it contains elements from both the third and fourth book, while a likely season 4 will probably do the same thing. As for season 5 … we should probably get that far before we start to really think about that too much.
What do you think about Harrington’s method of preparation here?
