‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’ visits ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ … and it’s awkward

There are awkward talk show appearances … and then, there are appearances that feature a young, hyperactive child who decides that she has spent too much time doing interviews.

During Monday night’s edition of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” we ended up seeing just this courtesy of an interview with Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, who was visiting the ABC show after spending hours after hours paying a visit to just about every talk show that they could fit into a day. In addition to the exhaustion that probably came along with this for both Alana and her “Mama” June, it was also her first major trip to Hollywood. With that in mind, it really was not too much of a surprise to see things hit the fan here pretty quickly.

If you watch the first part of the interview, things seem to be going pretty well as Alana answers some questions respectfully, tells a few jokes, and June handles the interview well and really comes across much better than she did back when we saw her kid drinking Mountain Dew on her first “Toddlers & Tiaras” special. By the time the second part of this aired, however, it was an entirely different story. Alana was not only incoherent throughout almost the entire segment, but she was fidgeting around, shouting random quotes, and appeared at one point to be more interested in climbing behind Kimmel’s desk rather than answering any more questions.

As strange as this whole ordeal is to watch, it’s really worth it if for no other reason than trying to watch Kimmel sit there and slowly ponder in his mind why in the world he ever decided to sit through this interview to begin with.
