Earlier this week, we brought you a small snippet of the Mark Harmon – Maria Bello interview about NCIS. Now, we’ve got the full thing!

In you look below, you can see both Harmon and Bello on The Talk earlier this week, which is their first joint interview since she joined the show. In this, you get a better sense as to precisely why she wanted to be a part of the show — for her, this was her parents’ favorite show, and that was a benefit. Not only that, but this also affords her a chance to actually be home for the entire year as opposed to jet-setting around and having to take a wide array of other jobs in different places all over the year. It’s really not all that often when you get a job that is this stable, as well as the opportunity to work in a community environment. We understand why she ultimately decided that this was the right time for her to return to series TV. (One of her previous shows in Prime Suspect remains thoroughly underrated; unfortunately, it just didn’t last all that long.)

Bello also opened up in here about her character of Jack Sloane, and how she was excited to take on someone who was used to succeeding in a world dominated by men. (We’ve heard both Jack and Jackie used as the character’s name already, so we’re interested to see which one ultimately sticks on the show.) She’s going to be coming on board in the fourth episode, and Harmon credits her for helping to shake up the energy this season and make it feel different than some of the other ones that they’ve done in the past.

In the end, the biggest takeaway from this interview is that both Mark and Maria seem happy to be there and excited for the upcoming season to air. Even though NCIS has been on the air for a long time, we do still think that there is this desire for the cast and crew to prove themselves and show that there is more that they can still do! We know that we at CarterMatt are eager to see if they’ve got a few new tricks up their sleeve that we haven’t had an opportunity to check out yet, given that any show should want to find a way to raise their game, even if it is one like this that’s been a consistent part of the television landscape for an incredibly long time.
