America’s Got Talent results: Did Dunkin’ Save help Kechi, Diavolo, Colin Cloud?

Tonight, the latest America’s Got Talent results show arrived with the promise yet again of some great drama, and maybe another a Dunkin’ Save surprise. We’ve seen it before on this show, and as we’ve said a few times over at this point, we are coming off of arguably the best semifinal performance show in history. There were SO many good acts last night that it makes the rest of the proceedings rather hard to predict!

What we did predict going into the night was that we were probably going to see Angelica Hale and Mandy Harvey both make it to the finale, largely based on their performance quality and also America’s love of singers as a whole. Beyond that, though, the future was a little more unclear for most of the other acts in our mind. We wanted to see Colin Cloud, Diavolo, and Light Balance back for more in the finale, but didn’t have any objections about In the Stairwell making it through. Our worst fear, however, was all the singers moving on and us getting a fairly boring, lopsided finale where all of the variety talent went the way of the dodo.

Dunkin’ Save – The three acts who were up for it going into the night were Kechi, Diavolo, and Colin Cloud. We’re a little bummed that neither Diavolo nor Colin was saved outright, but both are deserving of going through. Yet, we know that America loves singers, so Kechi will probably get the save. We love the story, but we also think that the other two acts are stronger.

First Two Finalists – It shouldn’t come as any of a shock that both Angelica Hale and Mandy Harvey are in fact through. Singers are the bread and butter of the show.

Third Finalist – Light Balance! Huzzah! They are definitely deserving, and what they brought to the show last night was thrilling and different. Our only surprise now is that In the Stairwell was overtaken by Kechi in the votes given that it felt as though they gave the better performance last night by far.

Dunkin’ Save – Kechi. Well, we called that one. Now, the judges have to decide between the other two, and we’re getting a singer majority from Tuesday’s show in the finale.

Judges’ Pick – In the end, they selected Diavolo over Colin to make it to the finale. We’re frustrated about this in some ways, but at the same time it’s all somewhat moot given that we do think that neither act would’ve won in the finale. To be fair, though, Colin almost got through even though he performed in a death spot fairly close to the start of the show. We loved his last performance, so we’re bummed even if Diavolo was great.
