The Flash season 4: The WestAllen wedding is coming!
In what has to be one of the happier stories that we’ve had a chance to report on so far this season, we’re pleased to see that Barry and Iris are going to be getting hitched at some point during the episodes ahead. We’d love for it to be in the upcoming four-show crossover event, but there’s no confirmation of that! The only thing that we can say for the time being is that while a wedding is great, it’s not going to free the two parties of any trouble.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in a new interview, show executive producer Andrew Kreisberg had the following to say when it comes to some of what we’re going to be seeing coming up for these two characters once some of those wedding bells stop ringing:
“They are finally going to get married this season and then it’s going to be: Can they stay married with everything that’s coming up against them?”
If you’ve read CarterMatt for a while, then you know that all of us are as devoted a ‘shipper of these two characters as they come and we’d love nothing more than to see the two of them walk off into the sunset together. Do we think that this is still going to happen? Sure, but we do have to remember along the way the reality that this is a show where terrible things do often happen, even if the writers are trying to get a lighter tone into the mix. With The Thinker turning up and doing his part to create havoc, there could be distractions through in that cause some problems for the pair’s relationship. They could butt heads over leadership, how much time they’re spending together, whether or not the two are going to be able to ever have a normal life, or a villain that causes them to make difficult choices.
What will eventually aid the two in any struggle is that they know each other inside and out. Even with powers this is still the same Barry Iris has known for most of her life, and she can find a way to get through to him. For Barry, he just needs to learn to slow down (speed metaphor included) and realizes that even though he is special beyond all measure of a doubt, that doesn’t make him always right.
What do you think about the idea of a WestAllen wedding?
When do you want to see it happen? Feel free to share some additional thoughts on that subject in the comments!
Meanwhile, head over here in the event you’re interested in news about a couple that wasn’t anywhere near as lucky on The Flash season 4 — Caitlin and Julian Albert. Alas, we’re not even going to be seeing Tom Felton on the show this season, based on the last we heard. (Photo: The CW.)
