The Dark Matter season 4 campaign continues — want to tweet live?

Dark Matter

The Dark Matter season 4 campaign has been going strong for a solid week now, and tonight’s a big night for the show. After all, Fridays are when Dark Matter used to air on Syfy, and we like to think that the #RazaCrew out there is already used to celebrating the show in a big way. With that in mind, why not band together with CarterMatt and all the Dark Matter fans to become part of the movement?

The first thing that you should know is that if you’re not following the @DarkMatterFTL account on Twitter, you really should be given that this is a great resource for all things regarding getting the show a new home. There have been live-tweets going on all week long, and they keep you posted on what to do and when to do it. We’ve seen many of you out there create accounts just for the sake of helping to save the show, and that’s awesome! These metrics are very important just in terms of it giving future network/streaming homes something tangible to see. It can be taken into pitch meanings and used as a gauge for enthusiasm. There’s a little bit more on this subject that showrunner Joseph Mallozzi covers in his latest blog post. This stuff matters, so don’t ever think otherwise if you feel like you’re just one voice in a big pond.

Tonight at 9:00 p.m. Eastern (6:00 p.m. Pacific), a new Twitter campaign will officially be underway. We’re glad to see the way that it’s structured out for the sake of drawing a maximum impact: The exclusive hashtag won’t be revealed until right up until close to when the Twitter push begins, and once you reach the aforementioned time, tweet to your heart’s content. This sudden spike allows for the Twitter algorithms to take note, which is how you can become a trending topic. We’ve seen the show trend already within the past week, and with the right push and effort tonight, it could happen again.

Obviously, the funnier/more creative the tweet, the better. Maybe it inspires some casual viewers to tweet about the show, or even gets some non-viewers interested in checking out the first two seasons on Netflix. There are two different reasons to jump on board right now:

1. It is fun, and these sort of campaigns do help to build a sense of community.

2. It also does make an impact down the line.

Hopefully, there will be some more updates on the show’s future not too long after this. While there may not be an immediate timetable for a decision one way or another, we’ll keep you posted. There are obviously other factors at play, including financials, but you never know what can happen!

If you haven’t signed the petition already…

Feel free to do so over here! There are more than 33,000 signatures as of this writing, so this is coming along nicely. Remember to spread the word, and if this petition got even a third of the show’s live+same-day viewers, it could move mountains.
