Could an Agents of SHIELD season 5 – Inhumans crossover happen?
When you think about it, absolutely there is a certain degree of sense behind the move. There are already Inhumans like Daisy Johnson over on Agents of SHIELD, so it’s clear that the two shows are connected more than other parts of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With that in mind, plus the fact that the two shows both air on ABC Friday nights, you can see scenarios in which the two parties could link up. What probably adds to this more is the fact that there seems to be a sense of openness to the idea. Speaking on the subject to Comic Book Resources, Inhumans executive producer Scott Buck had the following to say:
“Sure, some time in the future, there may be some sort of [crossover] — as it is right now, we stand completely alone and separate from the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but who knows what the future might bring?”
One of the things that is likely standing in the way of an Inhumans crossover happening right now is the mere fact that there is only so much time in which to tell a proper, complete story with a beginning, middle, and end. There’s probably not enough time over the eight episodes to include something about SHIELD, and they also probably want it to stand on its own to not lose viewers unaware of the current state of the Agents of SHIELD story.
For the time being, we do see such a crossover as a pretty unlikely thing to happen over the course of the upcoming fifth season of SHIELD; yet, there could be potential for an Inhumans crossover beyond that! We would love to see someone like Black Bolt in the same room as Daredevil or Jessica Jones, as well, but the Netflix – Marvel collaborations have been kept rather separate from the ABC shows and the movies, even if all of them are technically a part of the same overall universe.
