Arrow season 6 spoilers: New Manu Bennett photos from filming
The images at the bottom of this article come courtesy of Bennett’s official Instagram, and show him back at work on what is most likely the two-part Slade Wilson story that was first announced back at San Diego Comic-Con. Bennett will appear as the character once more in the premiere, but there are some more appearances beyond that where one key question is raised: Is this a guy who can be redeemed? He turned out to be useful to Oliver Queen in his hopes to get Prometheus taken down a notch on Liam Yu, and he claims that the mirakuru is gone and he doesn’t have the motivation anymore to want to murder Oliver like he once did. It’s a little surprising that Oliver still doesn’t want to murder him (the dude killed his mother right in front of him with a sword), but this is a guy who probably has a different tolerance for murder than most.
Maybe these episodes are the beginnings of a beautiful friendship for Oliver and Slade … or maybe it just sends the two down a road where they are constantly at odds again. Either way, it should be fun to have Manu Bennett back around the show. While it’s not 100% as of yet if he is wearing the Deathstroke costume in these episodes, we do obviously remember that this is a huge part of his character. Our hope would to see some of that in the present, but then some flashbacks that give you a sense of what this man’s life was like before ever ending up on the island. It’s a story that the series really could’ve and perhaps should’ve done back when Bennett was a regular during the second season. If not then, it could’ve been a good season 3 plot given that he was still a part of the show’s world at that point. (It was after that season 3 episode that Slade fell off the Arrow map for a while.)
Even if Slade is now one of the good guys, Oliver does have plenty of other enemies. As noted on a few different occasions as of late, season 6 is going to feature a rotating panel of bad guys that seems to include Black Siren, Richard Dragon, and potentially Cayden James.
