NCIS: Los Angeles season 9 premiere spoilers: Sam – Callen tension and more
Before we say too much else, the synopsis below offers up an opportunity to see more of what’s coming in terms of the story:
“After Hetty turns in retirement papers and then disappears, Executive Assistant Director Shay Mosley (Nia Long) arrives in Los Angeles to oversee the team and immediately makes staffing changes. Also, still mourning the death of his wife and living in a trailer on the beach, Sam is adamant that Callen find a new partner.”
Could that new partner be Andrea Bordeaux’s new character of Harley Hidoko? You can see both her and Long’s Mosley in the photo above, and Bordeaux is going to recur throughout the season. Given that she is a proper NCIS field agent, it makes sense that he would consider partnering with her after a certain period of time. Sam just doesn’t seem like his mind is going to be in the right place to return to work, and we’re not altogether sure that it will ever be. Having your wife die as a direct result of some of the dangers of the job is not something that is altogether easy to walk away from. Sam knows that, and with that in mind, he’s probably going to struggle with it.
So what about Hetty?
We’re not feeling altogether worried about her future just yet, mostly because we know her to be a smart and super-resourceful woman and she’s probably going to find a way to work her way back to the team. She’s also a thinker, and often is playing the long game in a way that many other characters may not be predicting. Our sentiment is that she’ll turn up when you don’t expect it, even if she’s not in the premiere.
As for Kensi and Deeks…
We love Densi as much as the next person, but there weren’t many NCIS: Los Angeles season 9 premiere details released related to them. What we do know is that on the job, Mosley will try to get Deeks sent back to the LAPD rather than to continue to partner him up with Kensi. Meanwhile, away from the job there could be some tension courtesy of how much Deeks is willing to actually tell his mother about what is actually going on with his engagement. If you love the two, rest assured that there is still plenty of good stuff ahead.

Not happy about the spoilers regarding sending Deeks back to LAPD unless it is for Deeks/Whiting/Bates story arc. I am very excited about that as long as it is Deeks and Kensi working together. Was encouraged to see Patrick St. Esprit [Bates] slated for premier. If TPTB think making new assistant director a badass by separating Densi, then they are idiots. Pissing off a major core of your audience when you are put into a lousy timeslot [how many moves is this now], expecting us to be loyal spells disaster for you. Obviously they do no pay attention to fans on social media or you Matt for that matter after all the praise you heaped on them for how well Densi has been written. We’ve been jerked around enough. JPK, Gemmel, Tunnel are on a short leash with me this season
