The Fosters season 5 episode 5 spoilers: Why’s Lena concerned for Stef?
For one, the synopsis below doesn’t make it seem like Mariana’s secret about being in roller derby is going to stay secret for much longer…
The Fosters season 5 episode 5 synopsis – “The Fosters kids attend a party at the Derby warehouse, but things escalate quickly when the cops show up. Lena struggles when Stef starts to become obsessed with an ongoing case at work, meanwhile Brandon’s relationship with Grace is put into jeopardy with Courtney back in his life.”
Ever from the beginning when Mariana started to get into roller derby, we wondered as to whether or not it was as big of a deal as she was making it out to be. Would Lena and Stef be a little nervous about it, especially when it comes to what happened to Jesus? We’re sure that they would be, but it’s also an outlet for her and something that could be helping her during a difficult time. This is probably a situation that different parents would handle in different ways, but there are absolutely way worse secrets that we’ve seen the family keep than this — let alone problems that were handled out in the open.
As for Stef’s challenging case, it’s not all that hard to figure out how an obsession could happen that would make Lena concerned. She’s really good at her job, and cares about bringing justice to people who are in varying degrees of parents. There are inevitably going to be people here and there who get in your craw and don’t leave, especially if the case is similar in some ways to something that you’ve done or experienced in the past.
Finally, it’s fairly easy to decipher what is going on with Brandon and Cortney: He feels the need to keep being the hero even though he really doesn’t need to be. He’s already done a lot for her and Mason, and their relationship has been so unstable for so long that it’s hard to imagine it ever being normal again. What Brandon ultimately needs to find is a way to showcase some sort of support for her without also letting it overwhelm his own life … or allow him to move forward. Either he commits to being a part of Cortney’s life and family, or he moves forward. There can’t be any half-measures.
