After Longmire season 6, Robert Taylor clearly down for Longmire movies
It may be too early to get into tangible homes for a movie and ways to make it happen (that’s a subject we’ll discuss more when we get closer to the sixth season premiering), but one thing is clear to us right now: Robert Taylor is interested! Given that there would be no movie without the Sheriff, having him on board is the first step towards making it happen.
In a series of posts on Facebook, Taylor makes it abundantly clear that he is down for a movie if it happens. We’re not altogether surprised by this, given that the Longmire cast as a whole built a strong family bond during their time together in New Mexico. Given that many of them did not have many other friends and family in the area, all of them probably found that in each other. They worked long hours together, coordinated some tough scenes, and often even hung out together at the end of many long days. The series ending is sad simply because you don’t have that convenient reason to all work together again. Taylor often is halfway around the world in Australia, so those opportunities for reunions may be even fewer and far between.
If a movie happens, the cast and crew get to work together to deliver another great product — and the value of that to the show’s viewers and longtime fans is immediately clear. It’s another great story! It’s hard to imagine anyone objecting to the idea of getting more of something that they love. We’re sure that season 6 will have a satisfying ending, but with the nature of this show, we do like to think that the door is always open to dive back into this world for more storytelling down the road.

Want to help make a movie happen?
The fine folks at the Longmire Posse Twitter, one of the show’s preeminent resources and an account we credit greatly for getting the show back, is doing another one of their trademark social-media stampedes tomorrow to raise awareness for the idea of some movies following the show. The hashtag to use is within the picture — just remember to not use it in the tweet until 9:00 p.m. Eastern time for maximum effect as they hope to have it become a trending topic. (The one thing that we would say is that they’re going to need even more tweets than usual to trend, given that the stampede is taking place at the same time as a Game of Thrones episode on HBO.)
