The Flash season 4: Will Gypsy return? Jessica Camacho’s schedule just got busier…

Jessica Camacho

Are we going to see more of Gypsy on The Flash season 4? It’s fair to wonder, especially since Jessica Camacho just got a new gig.

According to a report from TVLine, the actress (also known for her work on Sleepy Hollow) is going to be joining the rebooted Taken season 2 over on NBC as a series regular in the role of logistics expert Santana. For Camacho, that’s brilliant news since it offers her up further stability as a performer and gives her a chance to be able to do a wide array of interesting work over the next year. Plus, awesome action sequences and Person of Interest alum Greg Plageman serving as showrunner.

As for what this work means for her on The Flash, the simple answer is that there’s only so much we’re going to be able to see Gypsy around. Given that Danny Trejo is set to appear on an upcoming episode as her father, it’s fair to assume that she will be making at least one appearance on the upcoming batch of episodes; beyond that, though, the future is unclear.

There is at least a good history of actors within the Arrow universe who have balanced schedules out and appeared on these shows even with being regulars elsewhere. A good example of that is Katrina Law, who appeared in multiple episodes of Arrow season 5 despite being a regular on Training Day. Meanwhile, we have seen Colin Donnell turn up despite having a main role on Chicago MedEven Manu Bennett is a main cast member on The Shannara Chronicles, and he will appear in three different episodes coming up this fall. So long as schedules align, such gigs are in fact possible.

In summation, there may be plenty of opportunities for Gypsy to still appear on The Flash; the appearances may just be sporadic. We don’t exactly think that the writers are going to abandon her as a part of this universe, given that having a love interest for Cisco is fun — especially when she is such a badass. Trying to introduce another character for that would be a tremendous amount of work, and the only way to lock in another performer would be to make them a regular — we’re not sure how much room in the story or the budget there is for that.

This news is the second departure-of-sorts that we’ve discussed over the past couple of days (though we know that Camacho was never a regular to begin with). Yesterday, we reported that Tom Felton was unlikely to be returning as a series regular after her was not on the Vancouver set and did not turn in an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con; yet, we do still hope that there is room for him to make an appearance in the future.
