The Fosters season 5 episode 2 spoilers: Callie’s now goal; Jesus’ mission
As we move into The Fosters season 5 episode 2 airing on Freeform in seven days’ time, it appears as though moving forward is a goal. Whatever happened in the past, that’s being left there with some of the characters. There are new tasks, new missions, and opportunities to see how some of these characters are handling the shifting sands in their lives.

The Fosters season 5 episode 2 synopsis – “Callie gets control of her life and applies to audit art classes at a local college. Jesus distances himself from Mariana and Brandon so he can build his treehouse with Gabe alone. The Fosters get a new neighbor.”
The part of this story that we’re the most interested in right now is seeing if Callie can get control, given that she so often allows herself to start to spiral outward. She struggles mightily when it comes to leaving well enough alone, and instead finds herself increasingly in positions where she has to defend herself or other people. She’s extremely well-intentioned, but sometimes having those good intentions is not enough.
Meanwhile, Jesus just needs to figure out who he is at this point in his life, and ever since the incident with Nick he’s struggled repeatedly when it comes to finding that identity. He’s been lost, in pain, and confused. He’s never really known Gabe all that well, so there is probably a part of him that views this as some great opportunity.

One of the things that we are excited to see is that Callie will figure out the sort of person she wants to be, and precisely what it is that she wants to be able to pursue.
Meanwhile, Jesus is realizing that if he has to repeat his Junior year, he doesn’t want to do so in a way that makes him feel lost. He’s going to search for what he wants his future to be, separate now from Mariana and the remainder of the characters. He just wants to find himself, whatever that may end up meaning to him in the process.
