America’s Got Talent auditions: See father-son duo Danielle & Oscar

Danielle & Oscar

If there is one thing that we can about Danielle & Oscar leading into Tuesday’s new America’s Got Talent episode, it’s this: They may be the most flexible father-son pair ever.

These two come onto the stage acting all normal, and then they embark on a performance that is chock full of all sorts of crazy moments and theatrics, including father Danielle hoisting his son Oscar all over the place while he does the splits and some other impressive stunts. These two are very much good at what they do, and they should get an easy ticket into the Judge Cuts round.

Here’s what we find rather funny about this act: It may actually be a blessing and a curse that Oscar is Danielle’s son. From one vantage point, he’s probably a lot lighter than most other acrobat partners have to work with. However, at the same time it’s probably a lot more nerve-wrecking to do this when it’s your son and any accident can happen at any time. Still, somehow they both handle the nerves just fine — heck, Oscar seems to be loving this performance like it’s the greatest thing that’s ever happened to him, and he’s hamming it up on stage like nobody’s business. He has no problem showing off his skills and allowing the judges to see him at his very best.

If there is one criticism we’d offer, it’s mostly something that isn’t of their concern: Do we really need to use the Fleur East song “SAX” for everything on this show? Lyrically this song really doesn’t match what they’re doing at all, and we’ve literally (we’re using that word, ahem, literally here) never heard this song except on Simon Cowell-produced shows, where we’ve heard it about two billion times.

What will happen next for Danille & Oscar?

Provided that they make it through to the next round, they’re then off to do this act again to earn a spot in the live shows, which is when they really have to raise the game. What they do is really great, but typically acrobat acts don’t get anywhere near the same love and support that we tend to see some other acts get in the competition. They have to work that much harder, and if they do that, maybe we see them sticking around for a while.

Interestingly, this isn’t the only family-based acrobat act competing this season, given that we do also have that husband-and-wife pair from a couple of weeks back, who each showed up with their own separate routine trying to impress.
