Arrow season 6 premiere title revealed; cast begins filming
Great news: The Arrow season 6 premiere title is officially revealed! Not only that, but the cast is starting to film today.
Let’s get right to the title of the episode, given that’s why some of you are here. Per Marc Guggenheim’s official Twitter, “Fallout” is the name for the hour, and it is being written by both him and fellow showrunner Wendy Mericle. James Bamford, who directed the premiere of season 5, is also coming back in that role here. Anytime you see Bamford’s name listed as a director, you can bet that there are going to be some super-intense stunts and some crazy action sequences — it’s some of what he does best.
So what does the title mean? We don’t think in this case that it takes some crazy amount of analysis to figure out that this is a clear reference to what is being done in the aftermath of the explosion at Liam Yu. That was a game-changer for Oliver Queen and the rest of the Arrow team in that it could presumably kill all of them — the only people who are currently confirmed to be alive are Oliver and his son William. Of course, we don’t actually expect the remainder of the cast to be gone, and we presume that many of them will make it to the other side of what happens here.
There will be a little bit of immediacy to the premiere in the early going, as we find out hope some of the people involved in the explosion managed to somehow survive it. Beyond that, what we hope is that there will be a chance to learn a little bit more about how the characters escaped the island — hopefully, there is some super-creative explanation that makes sense. Coming up with that is the biggest challenge that we see happening for any of the writers here.
Beyond that…
The jury’s still out on almost everything is. We know that Oliver and Felicity are closer to a reconciliation now, just as we also know that Rene could be desperate to get his daughter back after missing out on that opportunity. There are some other open threads out there with the return of Black Siren, and we hope that Thea has more of an active role this time around after being relegated to only part of the fifth season and not often having all that much to do even when she was on-screen.
The sixth season of Arrow is slated to premiere on The CW this October, and the same goes for the other superhero shows.
