Timeless: What time traveling adventures await fans in season 2?
When season one ended, fans were hungry and excited for more. However, when NBC decided not to renew the freshmen drama an outrage was sparked on social media. The reactions from fans expressed confusion and disappointment as they begged for NBC to reconsider.
And they did. Because of the power of social media, fans had their wish granted when NBC reversed its decision and renewed the drama for a second season.
So here we are, discussing what could happen when Timeless returns.
When fans last saw Lucy, Wyatt, and Rufus things weren’t so good. Rufus was in bad shape after he lost conscious and was shot, Jiya suffered a seizure, even after Lucy’s grandfather gave the team evidence against Rittenhouse and Garcia was arrested, Lucy discovered her mother is part of Rittenhouse. And finally Emma stole the time machine. Basically, fasten your seatbelts because season two is going to be quite the ride.
So here’s what would be interesting to see for the upcoming season.
For starters, has Lucy’s mother been playing her the whole time? Fans learned that after the Hindenburg incident, Lucy’s sister, Amy, disappeared and her mother was healthy again, but her mother had no recollection of Amy. She’s part of Rittenhouse and anyone apart of this organization is sneaky and secretive, so it would not be shocking if Lucy’s mother knew who Amy was but was also aware that the future changed due to Lucy, Wyatt, and Rufus’s actions.
She also lied to Lucy about her biological father, which pegs the question of what else is she hiding. Probably more than we know. She could have ties to Mason Industries and the secret operations Lucy and her team has been venturing out on, or quite possible she could know how to bring Amy back to the timeline.
Season two will also reunite Lucy and Wyatt. In the season one finale, fans saw the two share a sweet moment that clearly showed there are feelings between them. Will Lucy and Wyatt admit their feelings to each other this season? Probably not; however, fans could see them grow closer. Wyatt is still trying to move on with his life after failing numerous times to prevent his wife’s death and we can only imagine that it’s going to take some time. But seeing Lucy help him through could lead to more sweet moments that fans are starting to crave.
As far as Rufus goes, will he die from his wounds? Again, probably not, but it will be interesting to see if this affects him in any way. He could be scared to go on missions now for fear he could be shot at again or just have a hard time coming to grips with what happened.
Plus, Will Garcia escape? He could definitely return to finish his mission, only this time he could be an ally to the team, especially as Lucy learns more about who her parents are and the secrets they are probably keeping. This would certainly be an interesting switch up from season one.
Then there’s Rittenhouse, the mysterious antagonist that fans haven’t gotten all the puzzles pieces for yet. The audience is slowly learning more and more about the organization, but not enough to figure anything out. We know Rittenhouse is trying to change something, so could Lucy be at the center of it all? She certainly could given that both her parents are in the organization, and the journal she wrote in that’s in Garcia possession seems to have a bigger part in the whole thing.
Again, whatever happens this season, the storytelling is sure to keep audiences guessing.
NBC renewed the series for a ten-episode second season currently to be broadcast in 2018.
