Once Upon a Time season 7 will address Snow, Charming, and others

Charming

When Once Upon a Time season 7 airs, it’s fair to wonder how big the parts of Snow, Charming, Emma Swan, and others will have. After all, they’re not main characters in the story anymore (which is very weird for us to say). The show is shifting focuses and settings, and with that comes a new cast and, therefore, an array of new opportunities. It’s terrifying, but as we’ve said time and time again, we’ll give it a chance much in the way that we think that most shows deserve when they are facing casting changes.

Now with this out there in the universe, let’s ask the following in question: Are there still plans to address the characters’ presence, and the overall legacy that they had as a part of the series? It certainly seems like it.

Speaking via Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Edward Kitsis confirms that there are some plans to bring up the characters of Snow, Charming, and more on occasion. They won’t be forgotten, and that makes some sense when you consider for a moment that Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) is still a big part of the series. With Regina (Lana Parrilla) and Rumpelstiltskin (Robert Carlyle) also returning, you have two characters there who can be connected to other things besides the main story. You have to figure out a way to include them through Hook, and the idea of three (mostly) reformed villains working together is very interesting to us!

The big struggle that we foresee when it comes to these off-screen characters is simply this: How much do you include them to the point that they become a distraction? If you bring them up too much, you do run a risk that you could make people reminded constantly of how great the characters were and how much you miss them. If the show moves on, however, then the writers will be accused of moving on too fast and not giving the cast their proper due. It’s a delicate balancing act that Kitsis, Adam Horowitz, and the rest of the writers will have to perform. They have to remember the past while also not dwelling on it at the same time.

How often do you want to see some of these characters turn up over the course of Once Upon a Time season 7? Be sure to share in the comments!
