America’s Got Talent: Light Balance gets Tyra Banks Golden Buzzer
Tyra chose to give her buzzer to the dance group Light Balance from the Ukraine, a group that actually does have a little bit of franchise experience after being a part of Britain’s Got Talent a few years back. Nonetheless, this was a worthy choice given that their dance style is visually stunning and still fairly innovative. We’ve seen acts like this before, but they’re one of the best ones.
What was perhaps the most remarkable about this is that Tyra gave the group the Golden Buzzer without even getting the best view in the world of what they were doing onstage. This is one of those acts where having that vantage point is certainly useful, but she still saw enough.
This isn’t the first time that someone was a golden buzzer act from the host of America’s Got Talent, as Nick Cannon kicked off the traditional last year with dancer Dorothy Williams. However, that felt more spur-of-the-moment than this did; it’s actually been a tradition for quite a long time overseas for the host to be able to push the golden buzzer for someone.
The biggest thing that we’re happy about here is that there was a golden buzzer act this season that didn’t have anything to do with singing. In one way or another, this was a big component of the first three acts of this kind so far this year. Light Balance brought something new to the table, and we’re certainly happy about that and the diversity that they will bring to the live shows.
Ultimately, you’ll have a chance to see Light Balance a little bit later this season, where it will be fun to see whether or not the group finds a way to make it all the way to the finale. They have some potential to make it at the very least that far.
