Big Brother 19 spotlight: Meet Josh Martinez, your likely first boot

Josh Martinez

There’s no rhyme or reason to how we’re spotlighting Big Brother 19 contestants this season; we’re just going mostly in order of who entertains us the most. Josh Martinez is going to be endlessly entertaining while he is in the house, which we figure probably tops out at about three weeks. There’s nothing about this guy that suggests he has any capacity to restrain himself. He’s going to be loud, obnoxious, and probably will stir up trouble before getting voted out unanimously.

Now, let’s try to figure out more about this man, who is clearly dressed like some sort of extra out of Miami Vice.

Current City – Homestead, Florida. It’s a city south of Miami, and is about as far south as you can go before getting to the keys. It also looks like it’d be hot and buggy as heck when you consider its proximity to the Everglades.

Age – 23

Job – Haircare sales. Nothing better than buying hair products from a guy with almost no hair.

Past houseguest comparison – His favorite player is Evel Dick, which should be fun if he actually acts like him in the house. Personality-wise, he had some serious Devin vibes in his pre-game interview, though we’d also say he is from the Jace school of being super-crazy right out of the game. Devin at least held it back for a little while! Maybe you could say Zach Rance if you really wanted to, but Zach came across more confrontational in his pregame press.

Strengths – He’s going to be a beast in challenges, he could be perceived as the life of the party, and he’s studied the game more than you would think for a dude who looks like he was found working at a bar by casting. (He’s seen some international season!) He may be able to dupe people into thinking that he’s some dumb bro just there to hook up, which doesn’t seem to be the case at all in the showmance department.

Weaknesses – There’s a good chance that he won’t dupe anyone because he can’t shut up and is super high on himself. The dude is loud and could quickly get on people’s nerves in there. He’ll always be a threat, and he’s the sort of guy who will probably announce to others that they are his targets.

Prediction – We joke in the title that he’s the first boot because out of everyone there, he probably has the best odds of going out almost right away. We do often loose these loose cannons early! The irony here is that if someone can find a way to neuter his craziness, he’s a good shield to keep around for a while since he’ll probably always be a bigger target than you. We don’t think he has a chance at all of winning the game, but if he does make it far it’s probably good for people who watch Big Brother for live-feed hysteria.
