Gotham season 4 premiere date (and Harley Quinn) hopes galore
First, you should know with confidence that there will be a fourth season of the show on Fox, as that was ordered earlier on in the spring. All indications are that it will be another run of 22 or so episodes, but there is no firm premiere date for it just yet.
Here is what we do know: The show will be airing on Thursday nights at 8:00 p.m. Eastern this year, which is the first time that the show has been pushed over to this timeslot. As for the reasoning why here, it may just have to do with Fox wanting to use both it and Lucifer as lead-ins. This is a show that doesn’t exactly have a lot of huge hits at the moment, and they need to use most of their shows as smartly as they possibly can in order to launch some of their other properties. Pending some last-minute surprise, the fair expectation is for Gotham season 4 to launch near the end of September, and to stay in that timeslot more than likely until late October / early November when baseball starts to take things over for a week or two. If you are a Gotham fan, you better just get used to a wide array of different hiatuses given the fact that there is another break in the action likely coming for Thanksgiving in the fall. Because of all of the breaks, it’s possible that there could be a shorter hiatus for Gotham moving into the second part of the season. As you recall, the one for season 3 was fairly massive.
So what is coming now in terms of the season 4 story? Following tonight’s finale, the one fair assumption to make is that one way or another, Harley Quinn should be integrated based on what producers / cast members said previously. It wouldn’t be a shock if the producers found a way to promote the new season with her in mind, given the break in Suicide Squad and Gotham City Sirens coming onto the big screen. The show may be able to use some form of the character without colliding too much with the plans of DC Films.
Twist – After watching the finale tonight, where was the hyped reference? Was it Barbara? If so, that was a pretty weak reference to the Harley character. Hopefully, there’ll be answers one way or another soon, because otherwise it feels like a lot of hype for no payoff.
