Outlander season 3 spoilers: See Sam Heughan on the high seas (photo)
This image was shared on the official Outlander Twitter, and offers up the clearest look at Heughan’s Jamie Fraser in costume to date from the second half of the season. There are some official photos out there already of Jamie in Scotland (including the one above), this one gives you a sense of his look while embarking on his journey from Jamaica. It’s absolutely accurate for the period, but it’s also fair to say that this probably gets sweaty under the midday sun.
So what is Jamie doing in this photo? Here are a few silly / entirely unrealistic theories for your reading pleasure:
1. Trying to hail a cab that is located just ashore; what we failed to mention is that this is a time-traveling ship that is actually heading to 1980’s New York City. Somewhere along the way, Jamie magically learns what “hailing a cab” means. (As mentioned, these are silly.)
2. Jamie somehow invested disco while at sea and is doing a recreation of John Travolta from Saturday Night Fever while sitting down. There’s a slight risk that this turns into the Outlander musical spoof discussed here at the site on April Fools’ Day.
3. Jamie sees something in the sky and is about to utter “it’s a bird, it’s a plane!” — a suggestion that there is a Supergirl / Outlander crossover coming at the end of the season.
In reality, this is just a fun behind-the-scenes image to give you a sense of what Jamie’s costume will be while making his voyage with Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and many others. These at-sea scenes are being filmed in South Africa, and they’re absolutely something worth looking forward to seeing. Knowing the Outlander cinematographers, they may make for some of the most beautiful sequences of the entire season.
Outlander season 3 will premiere in September; be patient, since the voyage at sea will presumably begin many weeks after that. Hopefully, some more teases will come in the weeks / months ahead. Will there be a trailer release this summer? Go ahead and cross your fingers on that!

I was enjoying this series but the problem is, it’s been so long that I’m losing interest entirely. There used to be a ton of responses from viewers when an article re: Outlander popped up, but that’s clearly no longer the case. Sad there was such poor planning for what was a very well done series.
