Supernatural season 13: Is Misha Collins returning? Sure sounds like it…

Is Misha Collins returning to Supernatural for season 13? Following the events of the most-recent finale, it does make sense to wonder. Luckily, there is some good news coming out today from the man himself that should give many people doubting a little bit more hope.

In a new post on Twitter, Collins made it clear that there is “a future” for Castiel / Cas / Cass / however you want to spell the shortened version of the character’s name after the brutal / shocking “death” in the finale. As many Supernatural fans know at this point, seemingly dying is almost nothing to worry about in this universe. Characters often find a way to come back from the brink, and even Bobby (who actually died) has turned up here or there. Odds are, Castiel turns up more than Bobby even if the worst happened to him. (Sidebar: Bobby’s death episode is one of the best Supernatural episodes out there.)

Collins also linked in his tweet to an Entertainment Weekly story about his epic scavenger hunt GISHWHES, something worth checking out if you’re into having fun, meeting people, and also giving back. Given that this is a pretty negative world these days, GISHWHES is probably needed more than ever to help brighten up people’s days and give them a further sense of good and excitement. There are so many good people out there in the world! Don’t let headlines tell you otherwise.

In getting back to Supernatural, there’s a reasonably good chance more on Castiel’s future is revealed at San Diego Comic-Con later this summer or a trailer that is released following that. Given that season 13 is premiering in the fall, there’s a specific time period in which you know the show will be back. Often, we like to think that this helps in terms of knowing the end date for much of the speculation. It’s possible in theory that the writers may wait to resolve the cliffhanger past that … but they’d be rather evil if they chose to do so. (Haven’t they been rather evil before? Probably, so this is something to very much keep in mind.)
