Is The Big Bang Theory new tonight? More Young Sheldon conversation

Is The Big Bang Theory new

Is The Big Bang Theory new tonight? Given how today is technically the final Thursday of May sweeps, it makes sense to have more.

Alas, that is not the case here, as there is no new installment coming on the air. Not only that, but there is also not going to be any more new episodes until September rolls around. This is of course the aftereffect of a little something known as summer hiatus, otherwise known as the show not being able to (understandably) film new episodes every single second of the day.

What is very interesting is thinking about where the show is right now both in terms of where it is in the present with Sheldon Cooper, and also where it’s going to be in the past with the prequel Young Sheldon coming to CBS this summer.

In some ways, you have to wonder if it’s coincidence that the prequel (watch the trailer for it here) is coming at a time in which Sheldon just asked Amy to marry him, given that what this is doing effectively is setting in motion some events where Sheldon’s family is going to be a bigger part of his story than ever before. Obviously, it seems likely that Sheldon’s mother could be returning to the show for an episode or two, and in turn, his sister could be making one of her first appearances on the show in many years.

So what about his brother? Why we haven’t seen George in the present is one of the big mysteries on the show, especially given everything that they went through in their childhood. Given that Sheldon was the nerdy kid who went through high school at a very young age before advancing to university, you would think that his siblings would be overly protective of him. This is even more true when you consider how he lost his father at an early age. Young Sheldon looks like a fairly dark show, given that Sheldon’s father died at a reasonably young age and this is something that becomes a defining part of his life. It remains to be seen just how much of him we’re going to end up seeing.
