NCIS season 15 premiere date speculation for Mark Harmon, cast
It’s been known for a long time that there would be an NCIS season 15, given that the show was renewed all the way back in the spring of 2016 for two more years; with that also came a two-year deal for Harmon, which puts us in the position now where we wait to see what is coming next for the franchise rather than worry about a huge turnover with the cast. (It’s possible that there could be some announcements later this year, but it’s fairy difficult to speculate on that for the time being.
In getting back to the subject of the premiere date, though, this is a show that is extremely predictable when it comes to when it starts. The first season of the series aired on September 23, and the most-recent season of the show aired on September 20. The earliest it’s ever premiered was the 19th, and the latest it’s ever premiered was the 28th. Depending on when the fall schedule begins, the NCIS premiere will be the second day of that in September. It could be September 19, or it could be September 26. In some ways the latter is preferable; a longer summer hiatus means one fewer week of repeats during the season, and one of the more frustrating things about the NCIS airing structure is how it tends to blink on and off over the course of the year in terms of new episodes.
So what about beyond season 15? Is there hope for more of the show then? Think back to the title — this is a show about the NCIS office more so than any one person. Therefore, it’s feasible it could go on however long CBS wants to keep making it. Any cast member could theoretically leave, and the show could move forward. Its ratings are down following some recent exits, but it still television’s most-watched show and it bears that badge with pride. It plays well all over the world, even if the story itself is quintessentially American.
