Timeless season 2 renewal / cancellation decision nears; last suggestions

renewal / cancellation

Timeless fans, it’s just about judgment day: The renewal / cancellation decisions are starting to roll in, especially over on NBC.

Will we get a chance to see Abigail Spencer, Malcolm Barrett, Matt Lanter, and the rest of the Time Team again on NBC? Right now, it feels like a down-to-the-wire decision. Taken was just renewed, but as we said over here, we don’t think that the two shows were competing against each other given that Timeless is likely not going to air in the same timeslot if it does return. The decision now could hinge on what NBC wants to do with this and many of its other bubble shows: The Blacklist, The Blacklist: Redemption, Blindspot, Chicago Med, and Chicago Justice. Of the group, The Blacklist is probably the most safe since it has an established global audience and a good deal over with Netflix. (While Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, and Law & Order: SVU are not technically renewed, they are expected to be.)

We will almost surely get a decision by the end of the week, but before then, here are a few suggestions:

1. Stay engaged – Tweet about the show often using #RenewTimeless, and find ways to let NBC know through their social channels how much you’d love more of the show. Prove it to them further by watching the show (with commercials) digitally, so they know even further that this is something that you’ll have on your regular rotation.

2. Stay social – Don’t just continue to talk about the show online — recommend it in your real life! If every Timeless viewer got a friend hooked on the show, it’d be one of the biggest hits on NBC and wouldn’t be canceled for years.

3. Stay hopeful – Even if things look dire (and we’re not sure they do just yet), don’t give up hope just yet. The story of the show itself is about underdogs who don’t give up, so let’s hope that one way or another, we get a chance to see more of what Lucy Preston’s story could hold.

For us, we’re hopeful that maybe the show finds a home on Friday nights at an earlier time; or, we’re hopeful that the show serves as a midseason replacement. We’re realistic about the ratings situation, but there is still a chance to find the show a better home for its audience.

Update: Alas, Timeless has been canceled. Read more over here.

Do you think Timeless will be renewed! Vote in the poll below! (If you are on mobile, you may need to view the non-AMP version of the page to get it to work.)
