Chicago Fire season 5 episode 20 promo: Severida, Anna face a grim future

Based on some preliminary information that is out there, you probably should expect that it could venture into a few dark places.

The title for this next new episode is “Carry Me,” and obviously when you hear that, you are going to have some fears regarding someone in help. Maybe this is a reference to some physical support, but you also should consider that it could be a reference to some emotional support, as well. This is going to be a time where a lot of different characters are going to do what they can to recover from hardship, and there are a number of different things that they may need.

Chicago Fire season 5 episode 20 synopsis – “Casey (Jesse Spencer) goes to drastic measures to help his friend Kannell (guest star Kamal Angelo Bolden). Lt. Severide (Taylor Kinney) helps an old widow come to terms with letting go, but realizes he may be the one needing help. Otis (Yuri Sadarov) and Cruz (Joe Minoso) deal with surprises when they find a new roommate to move in. Dawson (Monica Raymund) and Brett (Kara Killmer) get crafty to save a young girl.”

For those interested in more about the Kannell character, the biggest thing that we can say about this for the time being is that this is far from the final time you’re going to be seeing him on the show. This is a character who could evolve into having a big role beyond this season based on how the arc is perceived, so that is something to keep in mind as you get closer to the episode airing.

As for Severide, our heart could break for him thanks to what’s happening with Anna. The promo below makes it very clear just how delicate a situation that the two parties are in now that her cancer is back. We know already that her prognosis is not good, and with her health deteriorating, he is going to have to look now at the possibility of saying goodbye. We’re glad that we had the character on the show, but it’s not going to be easy letting her go if this is the end.
