Supergirl season 2 episode 19 promo: Chyler Leigh’s Alex in danger

There is a part of Supergirl season 2 episode 19 next week that is reminiscent of Criminal Minds in terms of its episode title. With the CBS procedural, anytime that you have an episode that is geared around a main character going through some sort of terrible predicament, you get an episode named after them. For the CW series next week, you’re going to have an episode entitled “Alex” — in turn, it appears as though you’re going to be seeing Chyler Leigh’s character being put through the wringer.

So what can you expect? Let’s just say that a big part of the story is going to revolve around Alex being kidnapped and put into an incredibly compromising position. As a result of that, Supergirl will have to make some big choices alongside Alex’s girlfriend Maggie.

Supergirl season 2 episode 19 synopsis – “Alex (Chyler Leigh) is kidnapped and the kidnapper threatens to kill her unless Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) releases a notorious criminal from prison. Supergirl and Maggie (Floriana Lima) have always had different approaches to apprehending criminals but this time they must work together to save Alex. Meanwhile, Rhea (guest star Teri Hatcher) has an interesting proposal for Lena (Katie McGrath).”

This episode marks the second straight one featuring Lena in an important role, and that in itself is something that is rather rare this season given that we haven’t seen her have all that many opportunities to shine in such a way. It should prove fun just because Lena herself has proven to be a good edition to the show, even if the whole morally ambiguous mystery is one of those things that we don’t buy into all that much just yet. Given that McGrath will be a series regular for the third season, if she does turn bad it won’t be in such a spectacular way that she ends up flaming out as a result of it.

All in all, it feels mostly like there is a lot of great stuff still ahead for the show, and if you want to see a spectacular performance from Chyler (who’s been great through most of this season in general), this is probably going to be your venue for it.

Promo – This looks DRAMATIC. Also, it was strange that we didn’t even get Alex tonight. Hopefully this episode makes up for it.
