Outlander season 3 teaser: What are we hoping to see?
First and foremost, let’s talk run time here. While definitions do have a tendency to blend together, our feeling is that the Outlander teaser will probably run as a whole between thirty seconds and a minute. Typically, if you get more than a minute you’re getting a full-fledged trailer … not that we’d be all that disappointed to have that, either. Really, the big thing that we want more so than anything else is a chance to just dive in and enjoy some footage of the show. Anything beyond a few seconds is icing on the metaphorical cake.
As for the content, remember first and foremost that the show recently just finished filming the first couple of episodes in production in South Africa — therefore, we’d be shocked if there is anything in Claire and Jamie Fraser’s Caribbean journey beyond a brief shot of a boat. Like most of the photos that have been released to date, including the one above of Caitriona Balfe and Tobias Menzies, we figure that the bulk of the teaser will be comprised of footage collected back in Scotland.
For Claire, we imagine we’ll get some glimpses of her life with Frank Randall in Boston, coupled with her return and subsequent search for Jamie in the aftermath of the Battle of Culloden. For Jamie, meanwhile, perhaps we’ll see his attempts to move forward, isolated in so many ways from the woman he loved and the life that he knew, unknowing if there is a chance for it to come back.
Could there be a glimpse of the print-shop scene? Maybe … but we’d be shocked if its more than a split-second. Remember that this is the scene that so many fans are dying to see presented on screen, so the more likely scenario is that Starz saves that for a full-fledged trailer either this summer or when the episode actually airs. There’s no need to give too much away when you are roughly five months out from when the show airs.
Above all, we expect more beautiful Scottish sights, an emotional update on Jamie and Claire, and a general sense of the epic, remarkable story to come.
